Snack Hack

It’s already been an exciting and eventful year for our family with so many exciting milestones and changes. Two weeks ago, Dean started pre-kindergarten. It’s hard to wrap my mind around how he’s only one year away from elementary school. Time is seriously flying by! While it’s hard for me to fathom, I am so excited for him.

We are now fully immersed in school routines and schedules. Between work, school and all his after-school activities, having an easy go to snack helps make our days smoother.

They’re easy to tuck in my bag to enjoy while we’re on the go, or pack into Dean’s lunch bag for a special treat. They’re also great to serve in smaller containers when Dean has his friends over.

A huge plus for me is that they’re fully customizable so he won’t get tired of just one kind of mix and depending on what’s in our pantry, I always have something to mix together.

As a busy momma, I’m really trying to take a couple extra minutes to go out of my way to add extra-special touches to his day. I love having a creative snack on hand for him, and one that he can help make as well.

Lately, his favorite after-school snack has been this extra-special trail mix. I use Skinny Pop as a base and depending on what we have in our pantry, I will toss in a few additional items. Cereal is a great addition, so I added Chex Mix cereal. Dean loves Pretzels so I added mini pretzels to give it a salty feel and some chocolate chips for sweetness. The options are really endless making it easy to customize for any taste.
