Jalapeno Watermelon Margarita

Jalapeño Watermelon Margaritas need to be placed at the very top of your summer cocktail list! They are so refreshing, not too sweet, welcomingly tart, and a spice level that you can adjust to your tastes.

Not to mention, they have no added sugars from mixers. This jalapeno watermelon margarita recipe uses just 5 main ingredients. It’s an easy, fun, and healthy cocktail.

So, let’s talk about how to make these margaritas. Like I said, the best part about this margarita recipe is that you’ll just need a handful of fresh ingredients.

  • Tequila: I prefer using a silver tequila for the flavor, but any favorite of yours will do.
  • Fresh lime juice: adds the perfect amount of tartness to the sweet watermelon.
  • Watermelon: the tastier the watermelon, the tastier the margarita.
  • Agave nectar: a little bit of agave helps to sweeten them up a bit, but feel free to omit if you find your watermelon sweet enough.
  • Jalapeño: I love to add a kick of spice from a few jalapeño slices, but you can adjust and/or omit if you’d like.
  • Sea salt, lime zest & ice: salt those rims and shake with plenty of ice.

How to make fresh watermelon juice

You’ll simply blend 1 cup of seedless watermelon cubes, then strain with a fine mesh sieve. Measure out what you need for the margaritas.

How to make jalapeno watermelon margaritas

  1. Blend cubed watermelon until smooth and strain with a fine mesh sieve and set aside.
  2. Add jalapeno slices and lime juice to a cocktail shaker and muddle.
  3. Add Tequila, agave, ½ cup fresh watermelon juice and ice and shake until chilled.
  4. Strain into prepared glasses over ice. Garnish with jalapeno slices and watermelon.

Don’t forget to salt the rim!

Before you pour your margarita into a glass — make sure to salt them! I only salted half the rim of these glasses. Use a lime wedge to wet half the rim of the glasses; dip the top of the glasses in the salt and lime zest mixture, rolling from side to side until well coated.
